I am Kostas Onisenko, a journalist since 2003 with long-standing experience in leading Greek media such as Kathimerini, VICE, MEGA TV, and ERT (Greece’s public broadcaster). I currently work with TA NEA newspaper, have a permanent collaboration with iefimerida.gr, and run the news platform ww3.gr. In a media landscape where polls show a relatively high percentage of Greeks view Vladimir Putin positively, I have consistently defended Ukraine’s cause and explained to the Greek public the political and historical context of Russia’s aggression.
Since 2014, I have been covering Ukraine, Russia, and the wider post-Soviet space — often from the front lines — reporting, analyzing events, and exposing Russian propaganda narratives. In Crimea in 2014, I was kidnapped and beaten by Russian paramilitaries. I have also spoken at TEDx Chalkida about how extreme life events can change our perspective.
I am active on social media with over 23,000 followers on Facebook, more than 8,500 on X (Twitter), and a growing YouTube channel featuring original reports, interviews, and analysis. I am also preparing to launch a separate Russian-language channel.
I publish articles about Ukraine almost daily and invite anyone with a story to tell — or an issue to highlight for the Greek audience — to contact me at kostas@onisenko.com.
